Muscle and Speed: a winning combo! American classic cars of the 1960s and 1970s are synonymous with muscle. The term “muscle car” generally refers to 2-door rear wheel drive mid-size cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s equipped with large, powerful V8s and sold at an affordable price for street use and drag racing, formally and informally. Classic muscle cars include the Ford Mustang, the Chevy Corvette, the Pontiac GTO, the Dodge Challenger, and others.

When American Racing wheels was first formed as a company in the 1950s by an engineer and a racer, it became the first custom wheel company.  Muscle cars were among the first types of automobiles fitted with these legendary chrome rims. Models like the Torq Thrust have since become synonymous with classic American muscle car style for collectors of vintage cars. What makes American Racing so special is their outstanding design coupled with a high performance approach to engineering.

Whether you are a casual driver of an impala or a hard core collector of Dodge Barracudas, American Racing rims offer outstanding value and performance for your dollar. With superior styling in finishes like chrome, black, machined, and others, American Racing wheels represent the pinnacle of style and design in the muscle car world and in the everyday world of hot rides.

American Racing’s hub-centric design coupled with its unique approach to engineering standards guarantee an exceptional ride and a gorgeous head-turning set of wheels that will get attention on  your block. If your looking for a cool classic set of new wheels for your muscle car, then look no further than American Racing.

American Racing Wheels are perhaps the most famous custom rims in the world. There is a reason for this. American Racing wheels are famous because the company was the first to design and manufacture custom wheels. True to their name, American Racing wheels was founded in 1956 by an enterprising drag racer and his engineer buddy in San Francisco. The two custom rim designers were trying to make a lighter, stronger wheel for racing that was tough and durable. What followed was the Torq Thrust, a legend in custom wheels and a style that is still manufactured today in varying sizes and finishes.

With beautiful models like the Aero, the Marin, the Haze, the Rogue, and the Cartel, American Racing wheels demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to contemporary engineering and high performance standards as well as designs that speak to both the past and the future of racing wheels. In short, American Racing wheels delivers classics year after year, and this is a big reason why American Racing wheels are often the top sellers in the custom rims world year after year. Offering a fine range of sizes and finishes like chrome, anthracite, machined, black, and hyper silver, American Racing wheels goes that extra mile to ensure that its rims will maintain their performance and visual appeal long after you buy them.

American Racing wheels also offer something few other rims can claim: classic styles that will fit well on almost any type of vehicle. While some custom wheels are defined by one or two types of styles like muscle cars, luxury cars, trucks, or classic cars, American Racing makes wheels that look and perform great on so many different styles and models that you can’t go wrong buying American Racing rims. In fact, American Racing wheels are so eclectic and such a great value that their enduring popularity is a sign of their enduring value, both in real terms and in perceived driving pleasure!

American Racing wheels are a living legend and a testament to ingenuity, fine styling, and engineering. Founded in the 1950s, when European racing rims prioritized modular semi-solid custom wheel designs, designer, the American Racing “Torq Thrust” was born when designer Tom Griffith created the tapered parabolic contour spoked wheel. This first American Racing wheel is a living legend in its own right and is still available today in a number of finishes and sizes. American racing wheels are known for the their custom designed wheel weight, increased stability, and more efficient brake cooling. The Torq Thrust is so intertwined with custom wheels and rims history that many claim it alone is responsible for starting the custom wheel phenomenon. The Torq Thrust ventually made the jump from racetrack to street and is available  in chrome and grey finishes for today’s hot cars.

The authentic “old school” Torq Thrust is highly collectible and is prized for its history and performance by many auto collectors. American Racing wheels represent the pinnacle of custom wheel history and design, and American racing is a proud fabricator of a number of fantastic new models like the Baja, the Razor, the Aero, and much much more.

The reputation and reliability of American Racing wheels extend all the way to the world of television where the tv series “Dukes of Hazzard” featured American Racing wheels for its seven seasons on the air. The 340 “General Lee” 1969 Dodge Chargers built by Warner Brothers for the show’s entirety featured American Racing Vector custom wheels. Many cars were totaled from all the stunts performed and during the entire run of the show only one wheel ever failed! This wheel is now an artifact in the private collection of a custom wheel and racing afficionado in California.

American Racing wheels have also played important roles on the big screen in such films as Bullitt, Transformers, and Die Hard with a Vengeance. Each of these roles testifies to the enduring appeal and classic look of the American Racing brand. Today American Racing wheels are available in finishes such as anthracite, magnesium, chrome, polished and silver. Sizes include 15 inch wheels, 16 inch wheels, 18 inch wheels and many more diameters and widths, allowing you to get a variety of looks and styles for your ride.
